We have discovered that surprisingly tasty white wines can be found in South West of Frances wine subregion Côtes du Lot. White wines full of freshness combined with often distinctive and complex flavors.
This beautiful Chenin Blanc by Pierre Benac's Clos de Pougette is also well worth its price. Very elegantly crafted wine. Its soft and silky structure is so satisfying yet it continues to wow with its beautifully complex combination of floral and fruity aroma's, all finished with the right oak background. Pierre Benac Vignerons, Clos de Pougette
Clos de Pougette, owned by Pierre Bénac, has been producing unique and distinctive white wines with origin of the Cotes du Lot, belonging to the Sud-Ouest region of France for more than 30 years.
In 2006, Clos de Pougette decided to restore an old tradition by replanting the Chenin Blanc grape that was once very prominent in the Lot and Aveyron. This wine grape variety, which mainly excels in the Loire, finds its place in the Cotes du Lot on very calcareous soils. Despite his young age, this plot has been able to produce delicious and qualitative dry, sweet and soft white wines year after year!
